OPEN STUDIOS

This initiative responds to a desire within our community to connect more closely - and over a longer period of time - with the artists. While studio visits are often the most natural way to do so, they are not always practically feasible. By bringing the studio into the gallery, we aim to create a more accessible and informal setting for exchange.

Throughout the month, Joost Krijnen, Barbara Hanlo, Marieke Zwart, and Hans Hoekstra will each work in the office space for one week. Each artist will use the space to focus on a specific project while engaging with visitors.

The studio will be open to visitors during regular opening hours (Thursday - Saturday, 13:00–18:00). You are very welcome to visit multiple times throughout the month. Should you wish to visit outside regular opening hours, please feel free to contact us by email, and we will do our best to arrange a suitable time.

Together with Michiel Simons, I used these days to conduct archival research on my work from the period 1980–1999. We brought several boxes of work to the gallery, where we carefully examined and inventoried everything. We also considered which works were suitable for presentation during Art Rotterdam at the end of March 2026.

Visitors were included in this process and invited to share their reactions to the work. This revealed that the darkroom and the analog working method are experiencing renewed interest and evoke a great deal of wonder and enthusiasm among a younger generation. The reactions were very positive and motivated me to continue this research, with the ultimate goal of creating a complete overview of all my work.
